4. Letter Confirming Paternity Leave and Pay
Use this letter to respond to an employee who has requested paternity leave.
The letter confirms the paternity leave that the employee will take and any entitlement they have to paternity pay.
The letter contains options for you to choose from, including: whether the employee will take one or two weeks paternity leave; when the paternity leave will start; requirements should the employee wish to change the date; and provides options which may apply in relation to statutory or company paternity pay, including providing an explanation when an employee does not meet the minimum earnings criteria to qualify for statutory paternity pay, or they do not have enough qualifying service with the Company to be eligible for statutory paternity pay.
Statutory Paternity Pay is currently £145.18 per week, or 90% of average weekly earnings, whichever is lower for eligible employees.
