2. Letter Inviting Employee to Investigation Meeting to Discuss Capability
This is a model letter inviting an employee to an investigation meeting to discuss capability, in view of their higher than average level of sickness absence, whether it be long-term sickness absence, or regular short-term absence.
The meeting should be held to discuss whether the employee's absence level is likely to improve and to consider whether a medical report would be beneficial.
Following a capability investigation meeting, an employee may be invited to a formal Capability Hearing, depending on whether an improvement in attendance is likely.
The duty to make reasonable adjustments in accordance with the Equality Act should be adhered to at all times.
